Welcome to my Grimoire! [REPOST]
1/10/23
According to Oxford Languages on Google, the definition of Grimoire is thus:
gri·moire
/ɡrimˈwär/
noun
• a book of magic spells and invocations.
I've chosen to call my blog this as a clever nod to the content I wish to write about--- that being witchcraft and the occult.
Firstly, I want to get a few things out of the way.
This blog is separate from my career as an artist. I wish to keep the contents of this blog as far away from my income as is possible. The reason I want to keep the two distinct from one another is because I really do not like how spirituality is commodified.
In my personal opinion, there are far too many scammers, insta-gurus, life coaches, and self-proclaimed shamans for my liking. The spiritual community is permeated with them. We have all at one point or another gotten a DM reading something along the lines of "Salutations Grand Rising". We have all seen the stupid tik toks of teenagers hexing each other. We've all heard the stories of crunchy dorks dying because they tried to treat their cancer with crystals and yoga instead of medicine. We've all encountered the armchair experts that want to sell us their personal '10 steps to enlightenment' meditation retreats for $3000 or more... And don't even get me started on the New Agers who come over from organized religions and try to police everything people do with toxic positivity and Christian-based dogma.
I may be coming off a bit harsh here, but I think the harshness is a bit warranted.
Let me be clear, I have nothing against people doing what makes them happy. If something works for you and enlivens your spirit, don't let me stop you. My issues begin and ends with dogmatic thinking, predatory behavior, and capitalism. All one in the same, no?
I want to be PERFECTLY clear when I say this blog is in no way an attempt to convince, convert, or commercialize. I am not trying to sell my personal beliefs to you or convince anyone that I'm some sort of all-knowing sage who should never be questioned.
Anything and everything you read about occultism, witchcraft, magick, etc. should be questioned. That includes what I have to say as well.
My goal here is simply to share what I've learned and experienced in my years practicing. I feel that what I have to share is valuable. Friends and colleagues have urged me to share my experiences, so I am making good on that request.
This is not the first iteration of my blog, I've tried a few times before and each time it fell through because I was not ready to go public. To be a mystic is an isolating experience. People don't always understand it and that can be scary.
So in short, take all that I say here with a grain of salt. I ask you to be curious, open, and kind. Leave comments, start conversations. If you resonate and want to stick around, that's excellent! I'm glad to have you. If you don't like it, just move on. This blog is not for you--- and that's okay.
Feel free to follow me on social media as well or reach out to me on my Contact page if you have any questions.
Over and out for now. Hope to see y'all on the next post.
